Hand-knotted in wool circa 1960-1970, this 5×9 vintage Art Deco rug is a rare signed piece by Zeki Muren. The artist’s signature is in the lower left corner, and a second signature reads “Leopar” in the upper left (Muren’s name for this series, which means “Leopard” in Turkish). On the Design: Admirers of the craft will appreciate this as both an extremely collectible and fabulous find in Muren’s signature rugs. The abstract design, loosely inspired by Leopard print, also draws on a bold modernist European look and feel. Gold underscores and green and orange geometric patterns with black and white accents, or ‘spots’ per the theme.
