Made with hand-knotted wool in Turkey circa 1960-1970, this 3x7 vintage runner rug is an exciting new addition to Rug & Kilim’s Mid-Century Pasha Collection, a line of our classics devoted to works believed to hail from Turkish multidisciplinary artist Zeki Muren.
On the Design:
Polychromatic geometric patterns, mosaic-like in their beauty, with a bright tangerine red underscores the field and border alike. The former enjoys geometric patterns in rows of diagonal squares, with both an impressive range of colors and a playful, yet brilliant use of them, one of Muren's hallmarks, his unexpected, whimsical, one-of-a-kind use of more joyful colors that brighten any space. It’s a light and playful piece with the whimsy of a Zeki Muren rug, but also with the comfortable and livable undertone that his works also embody, so thoughtful in their approach to the postmodernist appeal of the time and collectible in his works curated today.
Condition:
This mid-century rug further enjoys good condition for its age and origin. Its pile has been lowered to maintain its construction, which creates the look of a distressed rug, though it is perfectly ready for the floor as is.
