Originating from Morocco in the 1950s, this vintage mid-century Berber rug employs a distinct transitional approach to color among Moroccan rugs. Hand-knotted in high-quality wool, while many mid-century Berber pieces favor a great variety of colorways, this piece is one of a select few concentrating on a uniform, bold repetition of only a few hues including bright red, Beige/Brown, and brown, with one intersecting line of yellow lending further character to the field design. These repetitious colors accented the mixed pile height technique emerging roughly around this era, and lead the eye to appreciate this Moroccan’s additionally unique choice of fringes on both ends of the piece.
