Hand-knotted in high-quality wool and naturally luminous silk originating from Persia in the 1970s, this Isfahan Persian rug was inspired by a remarkable 17th-century field design with a unique, dimensional border permeating the field in the form of highly stylized floral spandrels. Both the rich, wrapping blue border and artisan beige field and complemented by finely drawn Islami floral scroll patterns mirrored around the medallion field design, which strongly resembles the once-iconic eight-pointed star motif of old in this portrait’s many interpretations of its rich history.
