This 10×14 Swedish Kilim rug design is from the flatweaves in the Scandinavian rug collection by Rug & Kilim. hand woven in wool and cotton, its design is inspired by Rollakan and Rya rugs in the Swedish Decor style. On the Design: This new flat weave reinvents vintage Scandinavian Kilim in ways that both honor the Swedish minimalist aesthetic and modernize its construction. Our use of undyed natural yarns, for example, lends a subtle striae with more of a sense of movement and depth—a subtle nod to Rollakan techniques in a modern fashion. The choice of colors, too, explores their retro feel in a more refreshing quality. This particular Kilim enjoys hourglass patterns in green and blue on a beige background with various playful accents. It’s a thoughtful use of distinct, yet complementary hues that lends mid-century chic a fabulous new look and feel. Our flat weave further enjoys a thick, more durable body than any flat weave in high-end rugs.
