Made with hand woven wool, this 3x21 contemporary runner rug is an exciting new addition to Rug & Kilim’s Scandinavian rug collection, a contemporary reimagining of Swedish minimalism and vintage rugs and textiles of Rollakan and Rya traditions.
On The Design:
This new flat weave reinvents vintage Scandinavian Kilim in ways that both honor the Swedish minimalist aesthetic and modernize its construction. Our use of undyed natural yarns, for example, lends a subtle striae with more of a sense of movement and depth, a subtle nod to Rollakan techniques in a modern fashion.
This particular rug enjoys geometric patterns in subtle tones of beige-brown, punctuated by creamy white, mauve and rust tones. Our flatweave’s more durable, weighted body is also a hallmark of the collection, made for high-traffic and heavy-furniture spaces. This, alongside several elements detailed here, represent R&K Principal Jahanshah Nazmiyal’s hope to honor this mid-century modern aesthetic. His Scandinavian Collection is a contribution to that style, and a renaissance for its designs with more comfortable, current techniques.
As an extra-long runner rug with a minimalist design, this piece can be easily sized into one or multiple smaller pieces by our in-house master weavers for an additional price upon request; an ideal choice for hallways, entryways, full staircases, narrow spaces and similar spaces among its vast design applications.
