This unique wooden jewelry stand was inspired by an eighteenth century sewing chest found in the Smithsonians Castle Collection. The original was made of paper mache using a process patented in 1772 by Henry Clay of Birmingham, England. Todays version offers contemporary storage compartments and a removable tray that reveals a secret compartment. Four entwined legs are carefully hand carved from poplar wood using baroque design.
