This vintage 3×5 Persian rug is a rare tribal rug, handmade in felted wool by Torkaman weavers circa 1940-1950. Handmade in felted wool, Turkoman rugs like this were once used as prayer rugs, and are extremely collectible today. This particular piece enjoys a luscious brown with red and black lines that form its geometric pattern. Connoisseurs and keen eyes will note this pattern is likely a minimalist interpretation of the Islamic mihrab symbol. It’s a rich piece of history and Persian art with vast design applications in its shabby-chic appeal today. This vintage Torkoman Persian rug further enjoys good condition for its age and origin.
