Originating from Turkey between 1930-1950, this vintage Hereke oval rug is hand knotted with a high-quality silk featuring a rare Medallion style field design complementing its shape and spaciousness. Encompassed by a fringe-based guard border transitioning into series of finely stylized lotus floral rings, the cream field background elevates the central medallion in a dimensional fashion, strongly resembling a series of green and pink Boteh patterns one symbolizing flame and the universe in select Turkish and Persian rugs, though it is reminiscent of neoclassical Aubusson influences to see this variation of the Boteh in these particularly forgiving, rustic colorways.
