A bold new addition to Rug & Kilim’s Scandinavian Collection, this 9x12 rug is handwoven in a new flatweave construction using Alpaca yarn. Its design reflects a contemporary take on mid-century Rollakans and Swedish Deco style. This new flat weave reinvents vintage Scandinavian Kilim in ways that both honor the Swedish minimalist aesthetic and modernize its construction. Our use of undyed natural yarns, for example, lends a subtle striae with more of a sense of movement and depth, a subtle nod to Rollakan techniques in a modern fashion. The choice of colors, too, explores their retro feel in a more refreshed quality. This particular Kilim enjoys navy and sky blue geometric patterns in the all over style. It’s a smart balance of new and chic that brings mid-century geometric patterns a fabulous new look and feel. Our flat weave further enjoys a thick, more durable body with a beautifully soft texture. It’s a hallmark of our Kilim design, and another contemporary contribution to the Scandinavian aesthetic that sits comfortably anywhere.
