Originating from Turkey, this Sultanabad rug enjoys inspiration from a variety traditional design elements with an uncommon color scheme. Hand knotted with Mahal wool, much finer than typical wool creating an almost shimmering luster like that of silk, the field design portrays palmettes, irises, symbols resembling pomegranates and islimi vine scrolls repeated in finely woven curvilinear patterns throughout both the rich brown field and gentle beige borders. These respective symbols of eternity, rebirth, and fertility create a naturalist portrait reflected by the earth tones and accented by the slight vibrant hues of red and yellow throughout the drawing.
Rug & Kilim allows for a 3-day in-home rug trial for you to test the rug in your space before making a final decision. Return shipping is not included.
