                            Having a well-appointed home office has never been more critical. A spacious desk and a good-looking ergonomic chair are the essential features of this room. A campaign desk or desk with spool turning on the legs complements a traditional setting. Antique mirror drawers introduce a feminine atmosphere to a room that can often be excessively functional. A warm dark oak top desk with aged brass details feels solid and works in contemporary, transitional, and classic settings. A trestle frame desk with x-brace legs feels modern but not sterile. Consider a file drawer if you're looking at a three-drawer desk because some clients still keep a few paper files and office supplies like pencils, paperclips, staplers, tape, and stamps. Storage is always in demand.

                            Some people prefer an adjustable height desk, so they can opt to sit or stand. Folding desks on casters help convert a space from an office to a guestroom. Slimline wall-mounted desks are brilliant in tight spaces.

                            Gather as much information as you can about what office chair your client prefers. A double padded, fully adjustable seat and high backrest may be most comfortable, and a 360-degree swivel castor base is a must for many—some like a mesh-back office chair for breathability. A low back fully upholstered office chair with a removable seat cushion will be cohesive in an area that doubles as living space. A bungie chair adapts to any body type and makes long hours comfortable, while a minimalist desk chair in whiskey top-grain leather adds a stylish element to any workspace. Even white oak frame swivels are available for clients who want a truly warm domestic feel.

                            No office is complete without a bookcase or two. An airy open etagere keeps a space feeling large, while a proper walnut, oak, or mahogany bookcase can make a significant architectural impact without the expense of constructing library shelves.

                            For the client who needs more than just desk storage, suggest a filing credenza with built-in printer storage or a modular desk system with a filing cabinet. Lateral file cabinet storage provides an additional surface area where tall file cabinets look overly official.
