                          Bedroom Furniture to the Trade

When you design their bedroom, you'll learn a lot about a client's habits, but the pieces people want in this room are standard. King beds are very popular but do not work in every room, so you may need to consider a queen bed or full bed. Contrary to what many people think, four-poster beds and canopy beds often make a room feel larger because they help our eyes register the vertical space too.

A pair of 2-drawer nightstands create symmetry in a primary suite and offer practical storage for books and glasses. A nightstand with an open shelf is also nice. Stained wood or painted wood is a typical finish for these pieces, but if you want to create a sense of luxury, consider shagreen or lacquer with aged brass detailing. Unusual finishes like braided Abacá rope can bring a natural or coastal feel to a space the same way wicker or rattan might.

If closet space is limited, a chest of drawers will be critical. Teak, mahogany, walnut, and oak are standard for these pieces, though bone inlay and resin, shagreen, or dimpled zinc are exciting options. Low horizontal double chests work well in modern rooms, while a tall chest of drawers, sometimes called a highboy or tallboy, feels more traditional and works well where floors space is limited.

Twin beds don't have to be reserved just for kids. If your client has multiple guest bedrooms, it's nice to furnish one with two twin beds if you have guests who are not a couple but want to spend the night.

Whether your client needs a king mattress, queen mattress, full mattress, or twin mattress, selecting the right comfort level is essential. Every client will have a different preference; some want a very firm mattress, while others prefer a soft mattress. Our Jenna firm innerspring mattress isolates motion between sleeping partners. Many options compress and roll in a box for easy shipping. Adding a gel mattress foam topper can relieve stress, and its ventilated open-cell technology helps warm sleepers stay cool. If staying cool is a concern, you might suggest a certified foam gel-infused hybrid mattress or a full memory foam mattress. We also offer folding mattresses for flexible spaces like playrooms.

Finally, some sort of seating is essential in a bedroom. A comfy armchair is great, but if there's no room, a bench at the foot of the bed offers a spot to sit and put shoes on and may provide extra trunk storage as well.
