A Hip Young Thing from Nuevo Living

I think Nuevo is strongest in edgy upholstery, but they also have some great marble coffee and side tables and pendant lights that will give even the trendiest pair of earrings a run for their money.
I’ve sold Greta a few times now. She’s a good size for a small living room. She doesn’t weigh a lot and her price is nice. Most importantly, she’s smokin’ hot -- like that girl in the leather jacket who somehow makes smoking cigarettes look healthy. What I like most is that Greta’s seat goes right down to the floor with no horizontal line breaks or visible legs.
A big, fat self welt traces its way diagonally from the floor to the seat, then turns back, crawls up the arm and slithers across the seat back. It’s the only detail that really even looks sewn, as opposed to sculpted. Also, Greta looks completely different from one fabric to the next. In peach, she looks soft and feminine, in rust she seems ready to rumble.
Recently, I’ve been doing a lot of built in upholstery. It makes a room feel really customized and original, but it can be very costly and you and the upholsterer are holding your breath until every piece is in place. But modular upholstery pieces allow you to achieve something similarly custom, without the hassle or expense.
I just did a beautiful 11’-7 long upholstered banquette with a stainless steel toe kick for a dining room. It cost $7,500.00 and I covered it in a very affordable fabric. As I’m looking at Lilou, one of Nuevo’s modular sofas, I’m realizing that if price had been a driving factor I could have grouped 4 pieces of it up on a stainless steel base, put some throw pillows on it and called it a day. I would have had to pay $1200 or so for the base, but I’d still have come in under half the cost. No regrets, but food for future thought.
The Fabiola and Flora pendants are just nuts. While I don't think I've had a client daring enough to say yes to these, I pray for the day I do. How great would the be framing a mirror in a powder room? They're metal with black glass fringe. I can't wait to see where you use them!
Mya is my favorite of Nuevo's drinks tables. It feels intricate and substantial at once, and there's nothing more convenient than a little table that can actually hover over the edge of your sofa so your glass can be exactly where you want it to be.
